The City of Clarence, Iowa, and the Clarence Main Street organization welcome you to our great little city!
We sincerely hope you are enjoying your visit to our downtown Main Street district. Clarence gained Main Street Iowa status in August of 2017 after a significant application process and presentation to the Main Street Iowa Advisory Council. Since then, the district has welcomed several new businesses and enjoys year round events to foster new growth, development, and revitalization.
During your visit, be sure to check out all the various points of interest around Clarence. If the weather is nice, head over to one of our beautiful parks and enjoy the amenities they have to offer. Several downtown businesses maintain hours that are convenient for shopping–so after your meal or drinks, take a stroll downtown and see what surprises may be in store for you! The Clarence Public Library and Clarence Main Street have events all throughout the year. Check out their schedules–we hope to see you there!
Once you fall in love with Clarence, you may just feel the desire to move here and become part of our community. Feel free to explore the rest of this website and learn all about what our city has to offer and how you can get involved. Various organizations and city boards are always looking for volunteers, so there will always be a place to contribute if you feel so inclined. We have a high quality of life marked by clean air, a strong work ethic, belief in family values, concern for each other, cooperation, and a sense of pride. Homes and utilities are affordable, and the city continues to grow (we had the second largest community growth for cities in Cedar county according to the 2020 census).
